It is designed to = help schools meet the primary source requirements in TEKS, much like the = Library of Congress's American Memory project. The new and improved = version of Texas Heritage Online should be going up very soon, but you = can look at the last version (which has some problems) at = www.texasheritageonline.org. =20 Texas Heritage Online is not a formal part of the TexShare Databases, = but it is free and the materials have all been approved for educational = use at no charge. The lesson plans will also be freely available to = anybody who is interested. Our biggest concern with schools is that = technology coordinators ensure that it is not blocked by filters as an = "image search" tool, so we'd appreciate it if you would help us get the = word out about that.=20 =20 I'll be at ESC-20's Library Resource Round-Up next week to talk about = Texas Heritage Online. After that, we're planning to have a series of = webinars for schools to answer any questions they have and discuss ways = we can help them meet other primary source curricular needs. Let me know = if you have any suggestions! =20 =20 Danielle Cunniff Plumer, Coordinator Texas Heritage Digitization Initiative Texas State Library and Archives Commission 512.463.5852 (phone) / 512.936.2306 (fax) dplumer@tsl.state.tx.us ________________________________ From: Ann Mason Sent: Thu 9/17/2009 10:10 AM To: Danielle Plumer Subject: FW: [texshare-users] RE: TexShare Advisory Board Meeting Agenda can you respond please? =20 =20 -----Original Message----- From: David Schuster [mailto:David.Schuster@pisd.edu] Sent: Thursday, September 17, 2009 10:07 AM To: Ann Mason Subject: [texshare-users] RE: TexShare Advisory Board Meeting Agenda I have a question about the minutes from July 27th and the k-12 section: =20 While there is not funding to purchase additional database content for = the K-12 program, we are able to provide value-added services to the = K-12 library community by enhancing the accessibility and value of = electronic educational content that is openly available. Danielle = Plumer, THDI Coordinator, is working with the Education Service Center, = Region 20 in San Antonio to develop lesson plans and other support = materials for Texas Heritage Online, targeted primarily at 4th and 7th = grade teachers. Dr. Plumer is also working with Steven Cure from the = Texas State Historical Association to develop a master database of = lesson plans for Texas history and social studies classes that will be = hosted by the University of North Texas. This project is funded by a = grant from Humanities Texas to TSHA. Access to these resources will be = facilitated by their inclusion on the K-12 Databases website. =20 Specifically - Texas Heritage Online - what database is this and is it = part of the k-12 package currently?
